Kean Miller Connection was created over 15 years ago to provide a positive and informative experience for eligible college students to learn more about the law school experience and what life as an attorney looks like.
Utilizing panel discussions, attorney presentations, and interactive workshops, the program affords participants with a glimpse into corporate law practice. We have been fortunate to have been joined by top in-house attorneys from major corporate clients such as Shell, BP, Honeywell, and Chevron as support for past Connections.
We know that in business and in the law, diverse teams consistently make better decisions. We also understand that, historically, the practice of law has lacked diversity. It is our hope that student-centered programs like The Kean Miller Connection, and law firm-focused programs such as the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity, Mansfield Certification, and other similarly situated initiatives will increase access, support, mentorship, and education to create more inclusivity in the practice of law.

The Connection is a genuine and meaningful program delivering real-world experience for students considering a future in the practice of law. At the same time, the Connection creates a platform for our firm, visiting law school professors, in-house counsel, corporate DEI officers, and Judges to work together to broaden access to the profession.

Kean Miller Connection is a full day law school preparatory program for college students. Attorneys from Kean Miller – Baton Rouge's largest law firm – along with others, provide an intense overview of the law school experience. The goal is to "connect" students with information helpful to their decision to attend law school and become an attorney.

Persons who meet the following are eligible to participate in the program:
Meets at least one of the following eligibility criteria:
DEI commitment. A demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives, programs, and values during college, through employment, or within the community.
Overcoming adversity. A history of overcoming obstacles affecting the applicant’s educational journey.
Unique perspective. Ability to bring a unique perspective to law school and the legal community based on the applicant’s experiences as an individual, including the challenges overcome, skills built, or lessons learned that have shaped the applicant’s identity.
Minimum GPA of 3.0
Completed at least 45 college credits

The 2024 Kean Miller Connection program will be held on July 18, 2024 in our downtown Baton Rouge office located at 400 Convention Street, Suite 700, Baton Rouge, LA 70802.
